Wrangler YJ 87-95
The Jeep Wrangler YJ was the direct successor to the Jeep CJ series and went into production in 1987. With its square lamps, the Jeep Wrangler YJ is easy to distinguish from the CJ series. However, the leaf-sprung axles are the same.
The installation of different engines was more varied, so the Jeep Wrangler was available with a 2.5 liter in-line four-cylinder with 88 kW and initially with a 4.2 liter in-line six-cylinder with carburetor 84 kW. In 1991 the 4.2 liter engine was replaced by a 4.0 liter engine with 135 kW and the 2.5 liter variant by a modification with an injection system. Consequently, the 4.0 liter engine with 178 hp was used in the Jeep Wrangler YJ and Jeep Cherokee XJ. The braking system remained the same for the 2.5, 4.0 and 4.2 variants.
