Used Jeep Parts – Guide

Not every part has to be new. On vehicles the manufacturer stopped supporting long ago, an inspected used part is often the fastest and cheapest solution – but sometimes the wrong one. This guide explains when used parts make sense and when they do not.

When is a used Jeep part the right choice?

Whenever the original part is no longer available or a new part is out of proportion to the value of the vehicle. Typical cases are body panels and brackets, axles and axle components, transmissions and transfer cases, interior trim and add-on parts of older series. Before we start any custom fabrication we always check first whether a used original is available – it is almost always cheaper and faster.

When should you avoid a used part?

We advise against used safety-related components without proof of testing – steering and brake parts in particular. Wear items such as seals, bearings or brake pads should also be new, because the labour involved quickly outweighs the price difference. In those cases we look for an approved new part instead, so the vehicle passes its technical inspection.

Where do your used parts come from?

From our own teardowns. We dismantle vehicles ourselves, check every part we remove for function and condition and store it labelled – in the case of axles that means more than 400 units in stock, new and used. So for every part we know which vehicle and which model year it came from.

How do I find the right used part?

Send us the model, year and VIN – these determine the trim variant and the correct part number. For axles and transmissions our axle application list, transmission and transfer case charts help identify the type. Write to info@renegade-station.de or call +49 (0) 6654 917240.

What if there is nothing new or used?

Then repair and custom fabrication remain. Our repair shop rebuilds axles, transmissions and engines; how fabrication works is explained on Parts that are no longer made.
