Which CJ do you drive?
- Jeep CJ5 – the long runner of the series, from 1955; 2134 mm wheelbase
- Jeep CJ6 (1955–1975) – the long wheelbase version of the CJ5
- Jeep CJ7 (1976–1986) – the combination of CJ5 and CJ6; 2375 mm wheelbase
- Jeep CJ8 Scrambler (from 1981) – the pickup of the series; 2629 mm wheelbase
What is inside a Jeep CJ?
Up front run the Dana 25 (until 1965), Dana 27 (1966–1971) and Dana 30 (from 1972) axles, in the rear the Dana 44 or AMC 20 (1976–1986) depending on year. Manual transmissions range from the 3-speed T-150 through T-18, SR-4 and T-176 to the T-4 and T-5; transfer cases are the Dana 18 (until 1971), Dana 20 (until 1979) and Dana 300 (from 1980). Engines span the 2.5-liter four-cylinder, the 3.8 and 4.2-liter sixes and the 5.0-liter V8. What does Renegade mean on a Jeep CJ?
Renegade was a trim line of the CJ models – alongside Laredo and Golden Eagle. The classic CJ Renegade is not to be confused with the compact Jeep Renegade (BU), which only appeared in 2014. Our range stands in exactly this tradition: parts for every Jeep model from 1941 to today.
Are parts still available for the Jeep CJ?
Yes. Body and sheet metal parts are available as reproductions, mechanical parts new or inspected used from our own teardowns – and whatever the market no longer supplies, we track down via our parts sourcing service. Our repair shop in Gersfeld, Germany handles restorations and rebuilds of axles, transmissions and engines.
